The Blood Of Olympus: The Heroes Of Olympus by Rick Riordan


Yes. I have finally made it. When receiving the book last year on the day that it was published, I was very excited, not only because it had more about my favourite demigods, but also it was signed by the author himself. But then I thought, do I really want to finish what I started so many years ago? The book universe which literally made me the person I am today - writing to you. That is why it took over a year to gain the courage to tell myself that it is ok to move on. To not be stuck in the past. Cherish the moments that you have now, and see how much of a person you have become in these last few years.

So, with my heart in my throat, I have decided to record and review the last Percy Jackson story that we will ever know there to be (except of course for the books which talk about Greek God's and Heroes). Right, just gathering my thoughts to tell you the final chapter. I guess you never know how difficult it is to give up your favourite characters, until the very end, where there is nothing left.

Even though this was meant to be the final book in the series, it didn't leave without a big story, in more ways than one. Including as to how, the plot line was huge, but also the number of pages that consist within the book.

I must admit, I wasn't crazily amazed by this book. I found it quite dull. Boring. To be honest, I can't believe that I am actually saying this, let alone admitting it. From being one of the biggest Percy Jackson fans, to slating one of it's final books, feels quite wrong. Although, I am glad about what ending Leo got in the end, it seemed like he always got the short end of the stick. He seemed like the under dog compared to everyone else, not as valued. Even though he may have put the most effort into the deadly quest in so many various ways.

Besides, even if I wasn't a huge fan of the book, the book cover is literally incredible. I love the colours, it seems like the perfect contrast between the antagonist and the protagonists. When first seeing as to what it looked like in a cover reveal, I thought this is truly a beauty, one of the most beautiful covers I've seen, let alone read in my life.

It is back to Amanda Hocking this week, with her new book that I have recently been talking about, when reviewing her other series, the Trylle Trilogy. Although, this book is now in a new series, but set in the same universe. It is called the Kanin Chronicles... I must admit, when actually owning the book, the cover is very enchanting and beautiful. How for instance, the main character and protagonist, Bryn Aven, is at the centre of attention, with her coat covered in red. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

This has been a long time in the making, but here it is. A court of Mist and Fury. I think that there is now the time to definitely say something about this, especially when the next book has already come out in the series. I genuinely do love this book. I think that it is much better than the first one in the series. This is mainly because of that in which the new characters are far more likeable, and those who we had been introduced to previously have been developed. For example, with Rhysand, I have found to be far more complicated than what had already been shown in the first book. In fact, I don't think that the first book did any justice for him. In any sort of perspective. However, it has also identified that Tamlin is not all that he seems, very annoying more than anything. Sunburn by Darren Dash

This is the cover of the recently published book "Sunburn" by Darren Dash (yes, it actually does feature a character getting burnt), which was published earlier than expected on the 1st May. This truly seems like a momentous event. This author has probably influenced my reading patterns the most, since I first picked up a book just for leisure. He is truly an inspirational guy. The cover itself is very sinister. The mix of reds and oranges as well as the sun connotes that the sun plays an antagonising role in the story. Maybe even a factor to all of the characters downfall. The simplicity makes it very intriguing as well as making it feel very uncomforting. Simple but well executed. This demonic masterpiece does not fail to disappoint even the most biggest of horror fans.
